This 4-week training program is geared for athletes who have a priority of improving their running endurance and/or distance on 5k trails. The target athlete is someone who is a beginning trail runner, has access to easy and moderate trails throughout the week, and has a goal of being able to complete a 5k, or improve their 5k performance. This program builds upon a baseline fitness for those individuals who can already complete at least 1 mile. Throughout the 4-week course, we will focus on improving endurance, getting in the gym to build strength in the lower body, completing at least 1.5 hours of sustainable cardio weekly, prioritizing rest and recovery, and improving upon our mobility through dynamic stretching. By the end of this training program, you should be capable of completing an entire 5k on a moderate trail or seeing improvement in your endurance (PR time) on a moderate 5k trail.
