This 8-week training program is geared for athletes who have a priority of hiking on wilderness trails, with the goal of achieving hiking-fitness on trails of 15 miles within 1 day. The target athlete is someone who is an experienced hiker, has access to multiple day-hikes throughout the week, and carrying only daily essentials (not geared for overnight backpackers or trail runners). This program builds upon a baseline fitness for those individuals who can already complete a 10-mile hike within a half day. Throughout the 8-week course, we will focus on improving endurance, getting in the gym to build strength in the lower body, completing at

least one longer hike of 4-6 hours weekly, prioritizing rest and recovery, and improving upon our mobility through agility exercises. By the end of this training program, you should be capable of completing a long distance day hike (10-15 miles) within a day.
