Welcome to Jack of All Trains Fitness -

Forget the personal trainer.  Identify your level of expertise in your outdoor pursuits, allow us to help you establish goals of moving past your plateaus, and solidify your training approach by selecting one of our training programs geared towards your ability level.  If you follow our 4-week beginner, 6-week intermediate, or 8-week advanced programs - you will see gains past your plateaus, enjoy your workouts, and become more proficient in your outdoor endeavors.  The goal is not to work out in order to get fit, the goal is to work out in order to play harder.

Here at JOAT, we recognize that fitness is elemental in improving the quality of our life, maintaining peak physical shape, and extending our abilities to play outside.  Those of us who value fitness thrive in a gym setting, prioritize and invest in our health, and enjoy challenges that don’t force us to stay complacent.  But why exactly are you working out?  Are you exercising because you know it’s good for you, because you want to look better in the mirror, or because it’s every year’s New Year’s resolution?

If you wander aimlessly lifting weights and running on the treadmill, sure you will become fit and see gains (or losses on the scale).  But after an 8-week training cycle you hit a plateau.  You find yourself performing the same weekly agenda of lifting weights, cardio, maybe the occasional yoga, but then when it comes time to perform your best at your passion outdoors - you inevitably reach a point where progress halts… or worse… you injure yourself from training overload.

But what if we started training through the lens of a professional athlete - prioritizing our outdoor pursuits within our training in order to excel at what we enjoy best outside?  Mix this in with some other seasonal disciplines during the off-season, and after an equitable rest and time to allow our body to adapt… we improve.

Even if we are beginners at our craft, we can still utilize this same training approach where we supplement exercise in the gym in order to help us progress in our outdoor passions.  Don’t exercise just to exercise - place an intention on identifying the areas that benefit our climbing.  Focus on supplemental cardio in order to stay on the mountain longer snowboarding.  Lift weights that target frequently-used hiking muscles, or mimic workouts that replicate a long-distance thru hike.  You don’t have to compromise time in the gym in order to fulfill your outdoor passions, and your outdoor pursuits don’t have to compromise your gym time.
